Graham Rowntree, Munster’s head coach, has announced his departure by mutual consent.

Following three straight losses in the United Rugby Championship, the former England prop departs.

After serving as the forwards coach for the Irish province for three years, Rowntree was appointed head coach in 2022.

While Rowntree’s replacement is being sought, Ian Costello, head of rugby operations, will serve as temporary head coach.

“I have really enjoyed working with a very talented group of players and coaches here in Munster,” Rowntree stated.

“I would like to thank the wider Munster family for all the support they have shown me in my time here but now is the right stage for my family and I to look forward to a new chapter.”
