495kg of Indian Hemp Seized from Fake Police Officer in Gombe.

In a statement released on Sunday, February 23, 2025, Gombe State Police Command spokeswoman DSP Buhari Abdullahi revealed that the 52-year-old suspect, Vincent Ojo, was arrested for allegedly impersonating a police officer and possessing dry leaves believed to be Indian hemp.
Ojo lives in the Old Rukuba Qtrs Area of Jos North LGA of Plateau State.
The statement said, “During the State End of the month, General Sanitation stopped a Black Lexus car with registration number GWA79CN Abuja, driven by the aforementioned suspect who claimed to be a police officer working at Force Headquarters Abuja, on 22/2/2025 at approximately 0900 hours, police officers assigned to Operation Hattara, led by CSP Ali Madaki, while on patrol at the Jekadafari area of Gombe city.”
“And while searching the said vehicle, 495 kilogrammes of suspected Indian hemp were discovered loaded, with an estimated value of ₦12,652, 000 and additional Number plate BWR290AX was recovered as exhibit.”
“Yet the suspect further confessed that he bought and transported the exhibit all the way from Ajegunle village of Ilesha LGA, Osun State to old Rukuba, Platuae State, and then he reloaded it with the intention of delivering it to Biu LGA Borno State,” he noted. “The suspect was unable to present any Staff tag, his rank, or the department to which he is attached.”
