2027: Jonathan Likely to Contest Presidential Election – Close Ally Reveals.

A close ally of former President Goodluck Jonathan has revealed that the ex-leader is preparing to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

According to Vanguard, the ally, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said efforts to draft Jonathan as the PDP’s candidate are well advanced and that he has agreed to run.

The move, driven by top party leaders and elder statesmen, is aimed at addressing Nigeria’s worsening poverty and economic hardship.

The ally stated that Jonathan has been consulting key political figures, including a recent meeting with former military president General Ibrahim Babangida, where he reportedly expressed his intention to serve only one term.

Jonathan is also holding consultations in the South-South region to secure local support.

While he has yet to publicly confirm his candidacy, insiders believe he will have strong backing from his base.
